And I'm sending my little right-hand lady this year! Ellie is going to first grade! She is so excited! I am so happy for her, as she has been looking forward to this for a long time. Chet will miss her the most though! The others are not so excited, but ready to dive in, and have a good attitude. They are looking forward to seeing their friends every day again. It will be good for our family to fall back into the rhythm that school brings. This is the start of Rachel's last year in school. She is excited about that, although I think she's a little worried about the workload this year. We are so blessed to be able to send our children to a really good school. I am happy for the opportunities this offers them!

Did you know that honey has health benefits? I've even heard it helps with wound care, I haven't tried that yet, seems like it would make a mess! Down by the creek there is a really old tree that has a very large wild honeybee hive. This is not where we get our honey from though. This is a wild hive, but they have been there for several years. Our honey comes from "domestic" hives used to aid pollination. This hive is very high up in the tree, probably 30-40 feet up. So, the other day Kenny had a friend over for the day and he brought his drone. One of the things they explored was getting a look at and some pictures of the hive. They were careful to stay away to not disturb the bees. We learned the hive is so large they are building honeycomb sticking out of the tree. I guess no predators can reach it, and the hive just keeps growing. It was amazing to get a glimpse of all the work they had been doing. The boys had a great time exploring with the help of the drone. It's so good to see boys outside barefoot exploring! I am so thankful my sons have this opportunity, and that they have wholesome friends! To Summer days with friends... Trish and Crew

I am also reminded of the rhythms of life. God's mercies are new every morning. And even hard days have an end. Our Salsas is a chunky salsa with some sweetness to it. We don't offer a mild salsa because our salsa is fairly mild as a whole, even our hot some would say isn't very hot. With the sweetness even the hot doesn't leave your mouth on fire. Summer thunderstorms can be a little scary, with the hail and tornados they bring. But they are also beautiful in their own way. Standing outside in front of the kitchen I took this picture. I love the contrast of the dark sky and the ready to harvest corn. The cool air and refreshing rain they bring is so refreshing! I am reminded of the power of God when they roll in. He loves to put on a show! The power of these storms is awe inspiring! Emma is not 2 yet, but she sure seems to be entering that stage of life! Wow, she gets into everything and really loves to be a showoff. Her personality is coming out! She is outgoing, persistent and very active. She is talking with sentences but sometimes struggles to find the words she needs. But she sure knows how to get her point across! I love seeing my children go through the stages of childhood. It's such a priviledge to be their mom! I treasure each stage! Summer brings so much beauty to the Crepe Myrtles that tower over our house. They were planted over 25 years ago and have gotten huge! They offer nice shade from the west sun, but in the summer they bloom so beautifully! I am amazed, how God gives us so much beauty to enjoy! It's every where; little reminders that He loves beauty and He shares it with us. The other week, I highlighted getting to work with my daughter Rachel, this week I'm highlighting working with my son Kenny. It's fascinating to watch the children's skills develop. Kenny excels at repeatable tasks that need consistency. He labels almost everything that goes out the door. It's a tedious job but he does well! He has gotten so fast at it as well. Working with the children gives me the chance to teach them work ethic, problem solving skills, perseverane, and time management skills when we get really busy. In some ways it teaches me patience as well. It also gives the children a way to earn spending money! To the next generation... Trish and Crew

I have shared how much I enjoy my chickens. Besides being a very healthy supply of eggs for the family to eat. We set some aside and put them in the incubator. This round I also got some eggs from my mom who has a different breed of chickens. This past week they started to hatch! That was so much fun for the children to watch the chicks break out of the shell, and then after they can come out of the incubator getting to hold them and pet them! They are SOOO... cute! Now we have them in a little brooder box till they get old enough to go to the hen house where they will have their own area to grow up before they go to general population. Not all hens are "broody". Hopefully, we will have one at some point that is and she can hatch chicks herself! There is just something about watching a mother hen take care of chicks.
